Star of the Tata stall was the Indica Silhoutte racer an outlandish Indica based on the Renault Megane World series racer. Using a space frame chasis and a solution F developed 3.5 litre 330PS V6 engine this is sure to be one hot Indica with a claimed 0-100kmph time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed in excess of 270kmph. A paddle shift six-speed sequential box transfers power from the mid mounted engine to the 17 inch rear wheels shod with racing Michelin slicks. The body work for the racer was developed at jayem automotive in Coimbatore and uses fibre glass panels mated to real carbon fibre parts. Tata Motor’s is seriously for this racer in India. It could probably underwrite the cost of ten cars around rs 15lakh each with racers only required to pay for running the car. Hopefully in the interests of Indian motorsport this should see light of day.
